Essentially a rewrite of an excellent but rare short animated feature, this video was made to show off this gorgeous footage and uses pretty much every scene from the anime. Didn't expect this to be so successful.
Footage: Cowboy Bebop (1998),Daicon IV Opening Animation (1983),Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995),Perfect Blue (1998),Revolutionary Girl Utena (1997),Sailor Moon (1992)
Audio: Ninzaburo (Furuhata's Theme) by C.J. Crew feat Sledge
First and last time I used 3D models in a vid. This was painful to make and it took a seriously long time too. The result was fun though and at least I can say I've tried making 3D and made something enjoyable.
Audio: Kirei na Kanjou (Pure Emotions) by Akino Arai
This video was commissioned by ADV for their DVD release of the anime Noir. No special effects or distinctive digital manipulations could be used and no changes to the song choice or cut.
Footage: Cowboy Bebop (1998),Di Gi Charat (1999),FLCL (2000),His and Her Circumstances (1998),Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995),Ranma ½ (1989)
Audio: I.W.I.W.A.L. by Loudon Wainwright III
I had this video planned for ages and when I finally got around to making it I missed the Otakon deadline. Oh well, it went to AWA and was a big success!
Footage: His and Her Circumstances (1998),Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995)
Audio: To Cut A Long Story Short by Spandau Ballet
This video is a character profile of two characters from animations directed by Hideaki Anno done in the style of his post-Nadia work. As such, it's very stylised and not to everyone's taste. Despite being essentially an experimental video, it was very well received and is one of my favourites.
Gratuitous Porn Video
Footage: Ebichu Minds the House (1999)
Audio: Monkeys by Mad Caddies
Created for the Mindwarp Entertainment Awards: Adult Video category so there would be enough entries to make it a valid category. I still laugh at the last clip. As in the show, very pantomime humour.
This is the video that got me known among anime music video creators and it's something of an anthem video for me. FLCL is in my mind one of the finest Psychotronic works and this was a chance for me to play with its themes and have a lot of fun.
Made for an instructional panel on making music videos at MinamiCon 2002 and hence contains a lot of techniques which may or may not be appropriate for this video.
Audio: After the End by Neon Genesis Evangelion Cast
While doing various fansubs, I decided to give some visuals to the Evangelion Audio Drama. The translation was readily available on the internet but it was much more fun to watch it the way you would an episode. So using some really rudimentary Photoshop, I made effectively a slide show for the audio drama.
Kare Kano (as it is known) is such fun to make videos with due to the massive amounts of visual comedy. I later remastered this one a tiny tiny bit and added some, not particularly necessary, fancy additions and tweaked the timing a touch. Still a video I enjoy but technically flawed in many ways.
My first amv. Vaguely about the 'Wired' addiction in Serial Experiments Lain. Made to test out a Pinnacle DC30 capture card that we were using for fansubbing.
Breed (Unreleased)
Footage: Akira (1988)
Audio: Breed by Nirvana
This is technically my first vid. Made in 1993 using two VCRs, it no longer exits but I'm listing it here for nostalgia sake.
